Power relief promised in 2 weeks
GURGAON: Apart from the urban areas, villages too have been reeling under the power crisis for over a month now. On Monday there was power supply for only four to five hours.
Suman Yadav, a resident of Chakkarpur, said, "We have frequent power cuts but on Monday, we did not have power supply from morning till late night. The residents tried in vain to ask the officials at the power house as to when they could hope for relief.
When the villagers, urban dwellers and councillors met officials of the power department and district officials, they were promised relief within 15 days.

The residents of villages Dundahera, Sarhaul, Caterpuri and Molahera protested near Udyog Vihar, which ended up disrupting flow of traffic on the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway.
"We met the deputy commissioner and the superintending engineer of Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN), who have promised us relief within 15 days. If they fail to improve the situation, we will hold another mass protest against the officials concerned and ministers. The infrastructure is bad, due to which the villagers and the residents of the city are suffering," said Gaje Singh Gablana, councillor, Ward 5.

The agitated villagers of Badshapur, Chakkarpur, Nathupur, Caterpuri, Kanhai and Wazirabad protested in the villages and the power houses in their areas. On Monday night, the residents of Kanhai protested on the roads, as power was not restored in the village even though the power cut ended around 11pm. The situation was bad in Wazirabad as well, and the villagers went on the rampage at the power house in Sector 52.
Satish Yadav, former Sarpanch of Kanhai village, said, "These areas have been facing such problems for a long time now. The government has been making false promises since 2008, as to relieve the city from power cuts. On the contrary, the situation has worsened in the last few years. The villagers are agitated because of the increasing power cuts with the mercury rising."
"It's not only the power crisis, but water and sewage problems have also been bothering us. We have to arrange for water through private tankers. As per rules, the village where the substation is located should get 24 hours' supply, but we are getting only three to four hours' supply throughout the day. Now, we have planned to have a 36 Biradari Panchayat in this week and then we will have a mahapanchayat to discuss problems," said Subhash tyagi, former Sarpanch of Badshapur village.
The technical snags in Haryana's power plants and shortage of coal have triggered an unprecedented power crisis in Gurgaon. The residents said that the city has never witnessed such a huge power and water crisis in the past that forced them to protest in their respective areas against the departments concerned.
